Creative Finals 2021 Event: 13th July

On 13th July 2021 Creative North Wales hosted The Creative Finals 2021 – an event designed to bring the digital-creative sector in Europe together. In the age where we are more connected than ever, this online event proved that connecting across the geography is not just easy, it is invaluable.

Joining us were twelve speakers from four nations, including clusters and networks, businesses, and higher education. Despite geographical distance and multiple languages, the commonalities between this band of creatives was clear:

  1. there is a wealth of home-grown talent
  2. networks such as Creative North Wales are instrumental
  3. It is imperative to prepare the next generation with future-orientated skills
  4. We want to continue to foster international linkages and learn from each other

Wales is out of the EU, but the appetite to work with Welsh talent has not diminished and this event demonstrated that Creative Europe is thriving. This event underscored the great work in the sector stemming from Wales, Ireland, Brussels, and Germany.

Creative North Wales Chair, Garffild Lloyd Lewis, had this to say ahead of the event:

“One of the aims of the Creative North Wales network is to promote and inspire collaboration within the creative-digital sector, not only across the region, but also across geographical and virtual boundaries where other creative clusters operate.

“I very much welcome this opportunity to bring some of these partners together to discuss ideas and share experiences with the aim of working together and strengthening international links in the future for the benefit of the region’s creative companies and organisations.”

Welsh Government’s Marc Shanker added:

“It is so encouraging to see the amount of interest and support from our close friends in the German regions of Berlin-Brandenburg, Baden-Württemberg and North Rhine-Westphalia who are joining us for this fantastic exchange.

“There is so much innovation taking place in this sector, which thrives through sharing knowledge, building networks and close cooperation. That is what makes this event so thrilling and our Welsh Government Team in Germany is looking forward to the dialogues between the clusters and regions.”
